Year 7 and 8 Technology

Technology Years 7 and 8

All students in Years 7 and 8 participate in the mandatory Technology course. This course provides students with the opportunity to identify needs that have personal relevance, apply design theory and use design processes that encourage flexibility, resourcefulness, and imagination in the development, communication, and production of quality solutions. The course is very practical in nature.

Students study Technology for 5 periods per cycle at Woonona High School. Over the two year period, students will complete at least 8 different context areas of study which provide them with the opportunity to experience a range of technologies. Context area studies will vary according to teacher expertise and room availability.

Fees

 There is a fee of $50 per year for all students in Years 7 and 8. This fee covers the cost of all equipment and materials used in the construction of projects.

 Equipment

All students entering any TAS faculty workshop (including wood, metal, food and textiles rooms) must wear enclosed substantial leather shoes. This is the department's safety requirement and cannot be varied under any circumstance. Students must also wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses as directed by their teacher.
