Wellbeing, Belonging & Connection
Young people learn best when they feel safe, connected and supported.
Strong evidence shows that students thrive when they experience:
- a sense of belonging
- positive relationships with peers and teachers
- connection to their community
- confidence and emotional wellbeing
At Woonona High School, wellbeing is not separate from learning — it is central to it.
We work hard to ensure every student is:
- known as an individual
- supported through challenges
- encouraged to participate
- connected to school life
For many students, attending a local community school also provides continuity of friendships and stronger connections during the important transition into adolescence.
A student who feels connected, valued and confident is far more likely to engage, persist and succeed.

A School That Reflects Community
We are proud to be a comprehensive public high school that reflects the diversity, strengths and values of the community we serve.
Inclusive schools help young people develop far more than academic knowledge. They also learn:
- empathy
- collaboration
- respect for others
- adaptability
- how to work with people from different backgrounds and experiences
These qualities matter deeply in modern society and future workplaces.
At Woonona High School, our values of RISE — Respect, Integrity, Success and Excellence — underpin everything we do.
We believe education is at its best when students are challenged to achieve their personal best while also learning the importance of community, contribution and belonging.
Because ultimately, choosing a school is not simply about choosing where a child will study.
It is about choosing the environment in which they will grow into their best self.
